Which lifetime deal Mac apps are worth considering?

Short answer

The best lifetime deal Mac app depends on the job: Rushilo starts at $19, paid once, for video editing with your own AI, Final Cut Pro has a $299.99 standalone Mac purchase, and DaVinci Resolve Studio is $295. CleanShot Basic, BetterTouchTool and DaisyDisk cover capture, shortcuts and disk space. A one-time purchase does not always include every future update or cloud feature. Rushilo's AI accounts and provider usage are separate.

If you are looking for the best lifetime deal Mac apps, start with the work you do each week. A creator recording tutorials needs a different purchase from an editor finishing a film. This list covers six apps for a creative Mac workflow, rather than a bundle of unrelated utilities.

These are recommendations by use case, based on the vendors' documented features and licence terms checked October 18, 2026. We make Rushilo. This is a source comparison, not a hands-on speed test. The prices below are listed purchase options, with no claimed flash sale or coupon discount.

What does a lifetime Mac app licence actually include?

Separate three questions: can you keep using the version you bought, how long do you receive updates, and which services cost extra? A permanent app licence can still have a limited update period. A cloud account or AI feature can have a separate bill. Neither distinction makes the licence worthless, but both change what you should pay for it.

Compare the exact plan name, too. BetterTouchTool sells both Standard and Lifetime licences with different update terms. CleanShot offers a one-time Basic purchase alongside a recurring Pro plan. A deal labelled with just the product name leaves out the important part.

Keeping an old version does not guarantee it will run on every future macOS release. Check your current Mac, your next likely OS upgrade and whether the vendor provides older downloads. Buy for a task the app can solve now; treat unannounced features as unknown.

Which buy-once video editor fits your Mac?

Rushilo: video editing with your own Claude Code or Codex account

Rushilo starts at $19, paid once, for 1, 3 or 5 Mac or Windows computers, with updates included. It combines a visible editing timeline, transcript cuts and on-device Whisper captions. On Mac, screen recording includes click-based zoom and cursor smoothing. You can direct edits through your connected agent and review the result on the timeline. See Rushilo's editing features and the AI setup guide.

It is a sensible shortlist choice if you make demos or talking-head videos and already use an AI agent. Your AI subscription or API usage remains separate. A lifetime editor licence does not remove your provider's usage limits. On-device captions need a model download, but no paid transcription API.

Final Cut Pro: a standalone Mac editing purchase

Apple still lists Final Cut Pro at $299.99 as a one-time Mac purchase, alongside Apple Creator Studio. Apple says existing owners will continue to receive updates, while some premium content is exclusive to Creator Studio subscribers. Choose the standalone purchase when you want that editing workflow without a recurring bundle. Check which purchase includes the specific content you need.

DaVinci Resolve Studio: look at the free edition first

Blackmagic Design lists DaVinci Resolve Studio at $295. Resolve combines editing, color, effects and audio tools; Studio adds features including noise reduction and text-based editing. Start with the free edition if it covers your work. Buy Studio for a feature you need, rather than because a higher-priced edition must be better value. The listed purchase alone does not establish a contractual promise of every future major upgrade.

These three apps are alternatives for an editing budget, not a shopping list. Compare one representative project: import footage, fix a cut, add captions and export. The editing workflow you can repeat comfortably matters more than buying the most features.

Mac apps for capture, shortcuts and disk space

CleanShot Basic: a permanent app licence with a limited update period

CleanShot Basic is $35 USD for the Mac app with one year of updates. Keeping updates after that is an optional $19 per year. Its capture and annotation tools suit screenshots, documentation and screen recordings. Pro has a separate recurring price and cloud features. Budget for the tier you actually need; a permanent Basic licence does not include the Pro cloud offering.

If CleanShot is replacing a separate recorder, compare Screen Studio and CleanShot's current editing workflows before buying both. Studio Mode has changed their overlap.

BetterTouchTool Lifetime: reduce repeated actions

BetterTouchTool supports keyboard shortcuts, gestures and window management. It is worth considering when the friction is arranging windows or repeating commands throughout your work, rather than editing the video itself. The Lifetime licence is listed at $25, with country and tax variation, and includes updates while BetterTouchTool exists. Standard is listed at $15 with two years of updates and continued use of the last eligible version.

DaisyDisk: find what is filling your project drive

DaisyDisk lists a $9.99 one-time licence with minor updates and use on up to five personal Macs. Its disk-space view helps you locate large folders and files. For a video workflow, that gives you a way to investigate exports, captures and old project copies. Inspect the files before deleting them; identifying a large folder does not tell you whether it is safe to remove.

Work out the real cost of a lifetime deal

Use a three-year budget: the app purchase, update renewals you choose, required services and any hardware or storage you would need. Compare equivalent work, including the time spent learning a replacement. A tool can be cheaper to buy and more expensive to use.

3 years
$720

Rushilo, with an AI account already paid for other work

Year 1

3 years
$19 additional

Rushilo, plus a new hypothetical $20/month AI plan used only for editing

Year 1
$259
3 years
$739
Illustrative arithmetic, not competitor quotes or a forecast. The $20 monthly costs are hypothetical. Taxes, hardware and price changes are excluded.

The second row assumes your existing plan meets your editing needs without extra usage purchases. The third shows why buying an AI plan only for video can reverse the saving. For a named subscription comparison, see the Descript alternative cost breakdown. For recording choices, see Screen Studio alternatives.

What to check before buying a Mac app deal

  1. Match the task. Write down the job you will use the app for this week. Remove purchases that duplicate a workflow you already like.
  2. Check the exact tier. Confirm the licence name, Mac count, personal or business use and transfer rules at the vendor.
  3. Read the update terms. Distinguish permanent use, a year of updates, minor updates and updates for the product's lifetime.
  4. Check dependencies. AI accounts, cloud storage, plugins and stock media can remain separate purchases.
  5. Check your Mac. Read the current macOS and chip requirements before paying, especially on an older machine.
  6. Verify the checkout. Use the official vendor or a reseller the vendor authorizes, and confirm currency, tax and refund terms.

Choose the apps you need, then stop shopping

For AI-assisted demos and creator videos, start by checking Rushilo's setup against the agent you already use. For a conventional editing workflow, compare Final Cut Pro with Resolve before paying for both. Add capture or utility apps only when you can name the gap they fill.

If your next project is a screen-recorded demo, follow the product demo recording guide, review Rushilo's lifetime licence, from $19, and check the separate AI requirements before you buy.

No. A one-time licence, from $19, buys Rushilo for 1, 3 or 5 Mac or Windows computers, with updates included. Connect your own AI account or API keys; their costs and usage limits are separate. On-device Whisper captions do not need a paid transcription API.

Are these limited-time Mac app discounts?
