Rushilo FAQ
Short answers first, each linked to the full guide. Rushilo is a desktop video and image editor for Mac and Windows that your own AI drives.
Screen recording on Mac
Quick answers on recording your Mac screen with the built-in tools, getting sound into the file, stopping a recording that will not end, finding where it saved, and trimming the result. Apple's own steps come first. Rushilo is mentioned only where its release notes cover the same job, and each answer links to a fuller guide.
How do I screen record on a Mac?
Press Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot toolbar, pick Record Entire Screen, Record Selected Window or Record Selected Portion, then click Record. Selected Window needs macOS Tahoe 26 or later. QuickTime Player also records the screen through File > New Screen Recording, and both save a .mov file.
Do Macs have a built-in screen recorder?
Yes. Apple's Screenshot app, opened with Shift-Command-5, records the screen, and QuickTime Player records it too through File > New Screen Recording. Apple's guide describes both as built in, so no extra software is needed for a basic capture.
How do I stop a screen recording on a Mac?
Click the Stop button in the menu bar or press Command-Control-Esc. Apple documents both. Pressing Esc only cancels a recording before you click Record. When the recording ends, a thumbnail appears in the corner, and the file saves to your desktop unless you picked another location.
Cursor, zoom and demo recordings
Answers on making a screen recording easy to follow: showing clicks and keystrokes, highlighting or hiding the cursor, how automatic zoom works, recording an iPhone through a Mac, and planning a product demo. Where a tool is named, the answer cites that tool's own page or Rushilo's release notes.
How do I show mouse clicks in a screen recording?
On a Mac, open Options in the Shift-Command-5 toolbar and choose Show Mouse Clicks, which draws a black circle around the pointer when you click. QuickTime Player has the same option. Rushilo's 1.1.0 release notes list a cursor drawn by Rushilo with a click ripple and a size setting.
How do I highlight the mouse cursor in a screen recording?
The simplest built-in option on a Mac is Show Mouse Clicks, which circles the pointer on each click. Screen recorders with a drawn cursor can go further: Rushilo's 1.1.0 notes list a smooth cursor with a click ripple, a size setting and hiding when idle.
How do I hide the mouse cursor in a screen recording?
Check your recorder first. Screen Studio's guide index lists a page on hiding the cursor in specific sections, and Rushilo's 1.1.0 notes list a cursor that hides when idle. Apple's built-in recording options, as documented, only add click circles, so hiding the pointer needs another tool.
Captions and subtitles
Answers on adding captions to a video, the difference between captions and subtitles, SRT versus VTT, burned-in versus closed captions, free and offline options, fixing captions that drift out of sync, and why automatic captions fail. Claims cite YouTube, W3C, MDN or each tool's own pages, and Rushilo's release notes where relevant.
How do I add captions to a video?
Generate or write timed captions, correct them, then either burn them into the picture or attach a separate caption file. Burned-in captions are always visible, while a file can be switched on or off. Rushilo makes word-level transcripts on your computer with Whisper, or with your own OpenAI, Groq or Google Gemini key.
Is there a difference between subtitles and captions?
Yes. W3C uses captions for text in the same language as the spoken audio and subtitles for spoken audio translated into another language. The two terms are used for the same thing in different regions, so check how a platform uses them before choosing a file.
What is the difference between burned-in and closed captions?
Closed captions can be shown or hidden by the viewer. Open captions, which are burned into the picture, are always displayed and cannot be turned off. W3C describes both. Keep a clean master video in case you need a version without the words.
AI and Claude video editing
Answers on what Claude, ChatGPT and Codex can and cannot do with video, what an AI video editing agent is, whether the AI is free, and where your footage goes. Third-party facts cite each vendor's own pages, and Rushilo facts come from its release notes. Nothing here is a head-to-head benchmark.
Can Claude edit videos?
Not on its own. Claude does not play, trim or render footage, but it can operate a tool that does, such as an editor with an MCP connection like DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 or Rushilo. In plain chat it can write scripts, titles and captions as text.
Can Claude Code edit videos?
Yes, through tools. Claude Code can drive an editor over MCP or run scripts, but the tool you connect decides what it can do. Claude's pricing page lists Claude Code on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans and shows it as not included in Free.
Is Claude free for video editing?
Not for Claude Code. Claude's pricing page shows Claude Code as not included in the Free plan and included in Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. The Free plan covers chat, so it can write scripts, titles and captions as text, but it will not run an editor for you.
MCP and AI agents for video
Answers on what MCP is, which video editors expose an MCP server, how to connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex or Cursor, why a server does not show up, and what an agent can touch. Config paths and limits cite the vendors' own documentation, and Rushilo facts cite its release notes.
What does MCP stand for?
Model Context Protocol, an open-source standard that lets AI applications such as Claude or ChatGPT connect to outside tools and data. A video editor's MCP server publishes actions like import, cut and export for the AI to call.
Can you explain MCP for dummies?
MCP is a shared plug for AI apps. The protocol's own introduction compares it to a USB-C port: one standard way to connect an AI application to tools, files and workflows. An editor that runs an MCP server lets your AI call its actions, such as cut and export.
How is MCP different from an API?
An API is one service's developer interface. MCP is a common protocol through which an AI app discovers a server's tools and calls them, so one client can use many servers. Many MCP servers simply wrap an existing API underneath.
Cutting, pacing and transitions
Answers on jump cuts, rough cuts, the editing rules people quote, text-based editing, talking head pacing, speed ramps and video transitions. Film terms cite reference pages such as Wikipedia and StudioBinder, and Rushilo features cite its release notes. Opinions are labelled as opinions, not measured rules.
What is a jump cut?
A jump cut removes a slice from a single continuous shot so the subject appears to leap ahead in time, with the camera barely moving. Editors see it as a break from continuity editing, while online creators use it to trim pauses and mistakes.
What is the difference between a cut and a jump cut?
A regular cut links different shots or angles and tries to disappear. A jump cut links two parts of the same shot from almost the same spot, so you notice it. Under the 30-degree rule, a smaller change of camera angle reads as a jump.
Are jump cuts good or bad?
Neither automatically. They remove dead air and speed things up, and one r/editors commenter called them the most honest cut. Repeating the same framing can tire viewers, so many editors cover them with B-roll. Keep each one only if it earns its place.
Sound, voice and music
Answers on cleaning background noise, removing filler words and silence, ducking music under speech, adding sound effects, using AI voiceover, and cutting to the beat. Tool and platform facts cite each vendor's own pages as read by the linked guides, and Rushilo facts come from its release notes.
How can I remove background noise from a video for free?
Free routes exist, with limits. iMovie on a Mac has a reduce background noise option with a slider, and CapCut says its noise reduction is free. Adobe Podcast and Descript list free tiers with caps. Check each cap on the vendor page before you start.
Can ChatGPT remove background noise from a video?
Not by itself. OpenAI's upload page lists documents, images and audio but no video type, and a chat model does not clean audio. You need a noise reduction tool in an editor or a cleaner app. An agent connected to an editor can switch that tool on.
What is the difference between removing noise and enhancing voice?
Noise removal reduces unwanted sound already in the recording. Enhancing voice also reshapes the voice. Rushilo's 1.2.0 notes describe Enhance voice as rebuilding the missing top end of phone, headset and call recordings on your computer, while 1.1.0 added a one-click Clean mic noise toggle.
Export settings and video formats
Answers on export settings for YouTube, HEVC versus H.264, resolution and frame rate, MP4 versus MOV, compressing video, variable frame rate and sync, and going vertical. YouTube figures come from YouTube Help pages read on 22 October 2026, and Rushilo's export options come from its release notes.
What are the best export settings for YouTube?
Recommended: MP4 container, H.264 High Profile, progressive scan, 4:2:0 chroma, variable bitrate and AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz. YouTube's reference bitrates are 8 Mbps for 1080p at 24 to 30 fps, 12 Mbps at 48 to 60 fps, and 35 to 45 Mbps for 4K.
What bitrate should I use for 1080p on YouTube?
YouTube's SDR guidance is 8 Mbps at 24, 25 or 30 fps and 12 Mbps at 48, 50 or 60 fps; HDR is 10 and 15 Mbps. These are recommendations rather than minimums, since YouTube says no bitrate limit is required.
What is the best video format for uploading to YouTube?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz, kept at the frame rate you recorded. YouTube's recommended settings also ask for the moov atom at the front of the file and no edit lists. Other containers upload, but MP4 is the one YouTube names.
CapCut, Descript and other editing tools
Answers on CapCut's US status, safety and pricing, what Descript costs and where it stores your files, Loom and Screen Studio alternatives, and when DaVinci Resolve, iMovie or Final Cut Pro fit. Each figure cites the vendor's own page, with the date given where prices can change.
Is CapCut still banned in the USA?
No. CapCut is not banned in the US as of October 22, 2026. Per TechCrunch, Apple and Google put it back on their US stores on February 13, 2025, and Executive Order 14352 names its apps in the TikTok divestiture. This is not legal advice.
Why did CapCut get banned?
CapCut belongs to ByteDance, and a US law bars app stores and hosts from distributing covered foreign-adversary apps without a qualified divestiture. The Supreme Court upheld it on January 17, 2025. It targets distribution, not existing users.
Is CapCut safe to use?
The sources read show no ban or reported breach, but safety depends on your footage. CapCut's privacy policy, updated April 15, 2026, says it may collect uploaded content even if you never save or publish it, so keep client or confidential material out.
YouTube and Shorts
Answers on YouTube Shorts length and shape, turning a long video into Shorts, keeping a video from becoming a Short, upload limits, caption uploads, AI voices and why a new upload looks blurry. Rules cite YouTube Help pages, and clipper pricing cites each vendor's page as read in the linked guide.
How long can a YouTube Short be?
Three minutes. YouTube says uploads from October 15, 2024 onward that are square or vertical and up to three minutes long are classified as Shorts, while earlier uploads remain long-form videos in the regular category.
Can I upload a 10 minute video to YouTube Shorts?
No. YouTube categorizes square or vertical uploads of up to three minutes as Shorts, so a 10 minute video stays a regular video. The in-app Edit into a Short tool on a published video selects up to 60 seconds, so pick a segment of that length.
How do I post a video without it turning into a Short?
Upload a landscape video, or one longer than three minutes. YouTube's help page says square or vertical uploads of up to three minutes are categorised as Shorts, so a 16:9 video stays a regular upload. Exporting landscape keeps it off the Shorts shelf.
About Rushilo: licence, computers and local work
Answers about Rushilo itself: what it is, which computers and operating systems it runs on, which AI tools drive it, what happens on your own computer, how updates arrive and what the recent releases added. Every claim here comes from the Rushilo release notes at rushilo.com/releases, read on 22 October 2026.
What is Rushilo?
Rushilo is a desktop video and image editor for Mac and Windows that your own AI drives, with a timeline you can watch and undo. Its 1.0.0 release notes describe it as a first public release, and it connects to Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop, Cursor and other MCP apps.
What is the latest version of Rushilo?
Version 1.3.1 is the latest on the release page as of October 22, 2026. It fixes the agent panel running an old copy of Claude Code or Codex when more than one is installed, so Rushilo now runs the newest install. Rushilo updates itself in the background.
Does Rushilo work on Windows?
Yes for editing. Rushilo's 1.0.0 notes describe a desktop editor for Mac and Windows, and 1.2.0 says the Windows installer now runs on regular x64 PCs. Screen recording is macOS only, and the 1.0.0 notes say the Windows installer was not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn at first.
AI story videos
Quick answers on making animated AI story videos with no face on camera: what the format is, the tools involved, clip length limits, keeping scenes consistent, and sourcing story ideas without copying someone else's post. Facts come from the vendors' own help pages, checked on 2026-10-22, and each answer links to a fuller guide where one exists.
What is an AI story video?
An AI story video is a short narrated story told with generated images or clips instead of a person on camera. A script is written, a character is designed as an image, each scene is animated with an image-to-video model, then clips are cut together with sound. Seedance, for example, takes text, images, video and audio as inputs.
Can I make an AI story video without showing my face?
Yes. An animated story is carried by a designed character, a voice and a script, so nobody appears on camera. You still need to follow each platform's disclosure rules: YouTube asks you to disclose realistic AI content and TikTok asks for a label on realistic AI scenes or people.
What do I need to make an AI story video?
Four jobs need covering: a script, a consistent character image, an image-to-video model, and an editor for music and final cuts. AI Video Empire uses Nano Banana Pro for images, Higgsfield with Seedance for video, Claude Code as a writing partner and CapCut to finish. Each tool has its own paid plan or credits.
AI characters and prompts
Quick answers on keeping one AI character recognisable across scenes and on writing prompts that give a video model less to guess. Covers reference images in Nano Banana Pro, the Seedance reference system, Elements, structured and JSON prompts, and debugging a bad generation. Facts come from Google, Higgsfield and LTX pages checked on 2026-10-22.
How do I make a consistent AI character?
Design one character image first, then reuse it as a reference in every later generation. Google's docs say gemini-3-pro-image supports up to 5 character images with high fidelity and up to 14 reference images in total. Describe hair, clothing and distinguishing features the same way every time.
Can Nano Banana Pro keep the same character across images?
It supports reference-image workflows built for this. Google documents up to 5 character images at high fidelity within up to 14 references for gemini-3-pro-image. References improve consistency but do not guarantee it, so compare every output with your original design before you animate it.
What is a character reference sheet?
A reference sheet shows one character from several angles so later prompts have something to match. Google's docs show building a 360-degree view by prompting for one angle at a time and feeding earlier images into later prompts, and say complex poses need a reference image of the pose.
AI video tools
Quick answers on the tools behind an animated AI story workflow: Higgsfield and Seedance, Nano Banana Pro, Claude Code and an editor to finish. Covers which plan unlocks what, how credits behave, clip and resolution limits, and what each tool does not do. Every fact comes from the vendor's own page, checked on 2026-10-22, with no prices quoted.
Which AI tools does the AI Video Empire course use?
Nano Banana Pro for character images, Higgsfield with Seedance for video, Claude Code as a writing partner, and CapCut to finish. The course landing says each tool has its own paid plan or credits and that any phone editor works for the music, so you can swap the finishing app.
Does Higgsfield have Seedance?
Yes. Higgsfield's help centre says Seedance, ByteDance's video model family, is available on Higgsfield, with versions from Seedance 2.0 to Seedance 2.5 in the model picker. Older versions remain available under All models. Your account, plan and credits stay with Higgsfield, so check its plans article for what your plan unlocks.
Which Higgsfield plan includes Seedance 2.5?
Higgsfield says Seedance 2.5 is available on Pro and Plus plans and above and is not included in Starter and Basic. It lists up to 1080p for Seedance 2.5 on Pro and Plus and above. Plans can change, so check the plans article.
Posting and monetising AI videos
Quick answers on what TikTok, YouTube and Instagram say about AI-generated videos: labels and disclosure, who can earn, what each program requires, and what nobody can promise. Every rule is quoted from the platform's own page, checked on 2026-10-22. We give no income or view promises and no legal advice.
Does TikTok allow AI-generated videos?
Yes, with a label where it matters. TikTok's Community Guidelines welcome creativity from generative AI but require creators to label AI-generated or significantly edited content that shows realistic-looking scenes or people. Unlabeled content may be removed, restricted or labeled by TikTok's team, depending on the harm it could cause.
Do I need to label an animated AI video on TikTok?
TikTok's rule covers AI-generated or significantly edited content showing realistic-looking scenes or people. A clearly stylised cartoon sits outside that wording, but the guidelines are the final word and can change. If unsure, label it. Unlabeled content may be removed, restricted or labeled.
Can TikTok detect AI-generated content?
TikTok's guidelines do not explain how it detects AI content. They say unlabeled content may be removed, restricted or labeled by TikTok's team. Do not plan around going unnoticed; label realistic AI scenes or people and read the current guidelines before each posting run.
