How to use it

Write or paste your script
Type in the box, paste from anywhere or open a text, Markdown, caption or Word file. Put directions like [PAUSE] or [smile] in square brackets: they show in the prompter but are not read.

Set the speed and look
Choose a speed in words per minute and the reading time updates as you type. Set the text size, spacing and margins, and turn on mirror if you read through glass.

Start and read
Press Start. The prompter goes full screen, counts down and scrolls. Tap or press space to pause, drag or use the arrow keys to move, and press Escape when you are done.

Questions
Is this teleprompter really free?
Yes. Every core feature is free with no account, no watermark and no time limit: speed control, mirror, full screen, countdown, reading line and keyboard control. Free scripts can be up to 3,000 characters, about 500 words or three to four minutes of speech.
What does a Rushilo licence add?
Unlimited script length, voice follow, recording yourself while you read, a synced second screen, a saved script library, Word files, and more themes and fonts. They come with Rushilo, our desktop video editor, for $99 once. There is no separate teleprompter subscription.
What speed should a teleprompter run at?
Most people read to camera at 130 to 160 words per minute. Start at 140, do a test read, then nudge it with the arrow keys. The page shows how long your script will take at the speed you choose.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook. Tap to pause and drag to move the text. iPhone does not allow pages to go full screen, so the prompter fills the browser window instead.
How do I mirror the text for a glass teleprompter?
Turn on Mirror before you start, or press M in the prompter. Use Flip as well if your rig shows the screen upside down. Both are free.
Is my script uploaded anywhere?
No. Your script and settings are saved only in this browser on this device. Recordings are made and kept on your device. Voice follow uses your browser's speech service: Chrome sends the audio to Google to turn it into text and Safari to Apple, while the script itself stays on your device.
Which browsers support voice follow?
Chrome, Edge and Safari on desktop, Android and iPhone. Firefox does not offer speech recognition to web pages yet, so the prompter falls back to normal scrolling there.
Can I use a Bluetooth remote or clicker?
Yes. Most presentation clickers send Page Up and Page Down, which move the text a third of a screen, and many foot pedals send space or arrow keys, which also work.
