Free SRT to VTT converter: no upload
Paste an SRT or WebVTT file, choose the output format, then convert and download. Conversion keeps visible text and cue timing. WebVTT positioning, styling and annotations do not carry across.
No account required. File and text processing stays in your browser.

How to use it
- 01
Add subtitles
Paste cue text, load the sample or choose a UTF-8 SRT/VTT file. Nothing is sent to a server.
- 02
Choose a format
VTT adds the WEBVTT header and dot milliseconds. SRT uses numbered cues and comma milliseconds.
- 03
Check and download
Review warnings about formatting loss, then download and test the file in the destination player.
A worked example
An SRT cue at 00:00:01,250 becomes 00:00:01.250 in WebVTT. The time itself does not change.
What to check
- This is subtitle conversion, not transcription or translation. It cannot create captions from a video.
- Output uses plain visible text. Styling, speaker markup and cue placement may need to be rebuilt in the player.
- Use UTF-8 text up to 1 MB and 10,000 cues. The original input remains available.
Questions
Does changing SRT to VTT fix subtitle sync?
No. Conversion changes the file structure, not the cue times. Use the timing shifter for a constant offset or a known proportional timing error.
Does this preserve WebVTT styling?
No. It preserves visible text and timing and reports formatting loss. Keep the original VTT if its CSS, regions or positioning matter.
